Throughout her life Regina has received Medicaid benefits intermittently when between jobs in the local school district and at nonprofit organizations.
“To me Medicaid is user friendly and during vulnerable times you don’t know if you are going to be able to afford coverage,” she says.
The program in Missouri provides her daughter with physicals, immunizations, dental visits and medication—which the family couldn’t obtain without Medicaid coverage.
“As a parent we are supposed to be providers so it feels good to be covered by Medicaid. It feels safe,” Regina says. “We can take her to the doctor if she has problems and we don’t have to worry. Medicaid has been a blessing.”
