Health insurance coverage provides people with access to the care they need—when they need it. That’s Medicaid shares stories of people helped by Medicaid at critical points in their lives.
“Poverty in a rural area looks different from poverty in a big city. Medicaid levels the playing field and allows rural patients to receive equitable care.”
Jeannine, a physician, has worked at a clinic in a rural community for more than 30 years. She says about 50% of her patients are enrolled in Medicaid.
Medicaid gives her young patients access to essential wellness exams. Jeannine says when a child has routine access to care, they are more likely to consistent treatment and have better health outcomes.
Jeannine says many of patients are also her neighbors, so she educates them about the resources available through Medicaid to ensure they receive the care they need.
“Medicaid levels the playing field and allows rural patients to receive equitable care. With each visit you can see the huge difference Medicaid has made in their lives," Jeannine says.
