“Without Medicaid, things would be tough financially.”

Kile was born with developmental disabilities and didn’t become aware of a state Medicaid program until he entered a group home after graduating from high school. “I don’t have to struggle to pay the bills, or worry about how to pay for them,” Kile says.

The program provides him with a wide range of everyday health care services, like drug prescriptions and dental care. It has been such a benefit that he now helps others in need.

Kile is now married and works at a nonprofit organization that assists those with developmental disabilities speak up and get services they need to thrive in their communities. He hopes Medicaid can help others in a similar situation, just as it did for him.

“Without Medicaid, things would be tough financially,” Kile says. “Everyone deserves a chance to live independently, and these services help them do that.”
