“If I didn’t get Medicaid when I did, I don’t think I would be here today.”

Carolyn was working two jobs without health insurance when she fell in her home and cracked her hip. Unable to afford out-of-pocket expenses, Carolyn needed help.

With the encouragement of her family, Carolyn went to a local clinic where her doctor recommended she apply for disability coverage through Medicaid. As a result, Carolyn was able to access the surgical procedures and medications she needed.

Following her recovery, Carolyn began studying to become an administrative assistant with plans to rejoin the workforce.

“I still have struggles, but I wouldn’t be where I am without Medicaid,” Carolyn says. “It helped me get physically, mentally, and emotionally well so that I could return to school and get back on track.”
