Although she and her husband Jerry both earned modest incomes, Jennifer never thought a couple with two full-time jobs would be eligible for Medicaid.
But when she became pregnant, their income qualified her for Medicaid. Jennifer’s previous pregnancy ended in a stillbirth, and Medicaid provided her access to the trauma-informed health care services she needed.
Their daughter remained covered by Medicaid for her first two years, when Jennifer and Jerry both earned raises. The whole family is now covered by private insurance.
