Jasmine, a single mother and full-time day-care employee was laid off after injuries she sustained in a fall that left her unable to work.
Unable to afford private health insurance, she applied for Medicaid. With the help of the program, she quickly got back on her feet and returned to work.
In February of 2021, she contracted Covid-19, and her symptoms were so severe she couldn’t work. She reapplied for Medicaid, which provided care for long-haul Covid symptoms.
“Without Medicaid, I don’t think I’d be in a good place, mentally or physically,” she says. “Thanks to Medicaid, I can continue to care for my children without sacrificing my health.”
